Safety

Weapons

No weapons are allowed in Ropecon. Replicas etc. are part of the costume and remain attached to it. Brandishing any kind of sword, firearm or other implement is forbidden. Exception: A separate area is set aside for fighting with boffer weapons. Elsewhere they will remain sheathed too.

Intoxicants

Alcohol and other drugs are not part of Ropecon. Peace officers have a duty to confiscate forbidden substances and remove troublemakers. Smoking is allowed only outdoors, a modest distance from the doors. Exception: Dipoli has a separate licensed area, where visitors over eighteen of age may consume moderate amounts of alcoholic beverages. It is also allowed to smoke in this area.

Clothing

Clothing is free but mandatory. The most common dress is jeans and a tee-shirt. An observant patron may also note several feys, barbarians, elves and even kenders. Dressing up is allowed but not mandatory. Hitch-hikers are encouraged to remember where their towels are.

Other safety

General safety is maintained by the Troubleshooters. These peace officers are recognizable by their armband and dark blue vests. Troubleshooters are available for all your problems concerning safety and general issues. They can also call in the on-duty first-aid person.

Game area

These rules, as well as Finnish law, are in effect in Dipoli and in the areas around it.

These rules are put in place so everybody can enjoy a safe and pleasurable con.
