Accommodation, food and comfort

Accommodation

Due to the World Championship preparations, there will be less room for accommodation than usual. We ask everyone to sleep at their homes or arrange their own accommodation, if possible.

Visitors from afar can sleep on floors in sites in Dipoli or nearby. Space is limited, so visitors form nearby should be prepared to sleep at home.

Primary accommodation is in Otakaari 20 and possibly some other premises (see map). At night, space will be made available in the rooms at Dipoli as the programs end. We attempt to place all comers somewhere, but those who retire early will have a cozier and more peaceful accommodation and will get more sleep. Wakeup will be at Dipoli between eight and nine, in separate accommodations before ten or twelve, depending on what events are scheduled.

During the night accommodations will be quiet and the premises will be guarded. There will be no mattresses and the stone floors may be cold, so visitors should pack a sleeping bag and mattress.

It is not possible to sleep in tents. It is not allowed to erect tents anywhere nearby. Closest camping sites are Espoo Camping Oittaa and Rastila camping in Helsinki.

The closest hotel is Radisson SAS Espoo, within a walking distance from Dipoli.

Storage

Visitors can leave their gear in a manned checkroom for free. Sleeping bags, mattresses and other large items will be taken to a separate large item storage, which will most likely be in a tent next to Dipoli. The checkroom in Dipoli is used for backpacks and other small items. Both checkrooms are open constantly during the con.

If you misplace something, you should ask for it at the info desk. You can also reclaim lost property form previous year's Ropecon there.

Hygiene

Showers and saunas will be available at mornings and evenings. Further timetables will be made available closer to the con.

While available, showers and saunas are staffed by a worker to enforce shift changes and to help with any problems.

Food & drink

Warm food can be had at a restaurant in Dipoli and food stalls outside Dipoli. The restaurant serves mostly pizza and kebab, the food stalls have potato hash and lörtsys. The restaurant will be open most likely until two in the morning, but due to alcohol serving, under 18-year-olds will be served only before six. At least some of the food stalls are expected to be open around the clock.

There is a shopping centre close by, with two shops and an R-kiosk and a grill, where food and drink can be purchased. Visitors also have access to a microwave oven for warming food. (Location to be confirmed later.)

Garbage disposal

In the interest of general tidiness, there are several waste disposal boxes strewn around the con area. These are intended for all kinds of trash and we ask that visitors make use of them. There will be separate collection points for bottles and waste paper, and we hope visitors make full use of these as well.

Con staff will patrol Dipoli and surroundings to ensure general tidiness, but everyone can contribute to make the con more fun to be in.
