Portfolio- and application guidelines
Ropecon’s artisan and artist alley table applications require a portfolio in the application. This document outlines the guidelines for your application portfolio and application.
The portfolio should be a curated collection of images and text that clearly presents the content and range of your possible table. You can also include a picture of your previous table(s), or a visual plan for the presentation of your table, but this is not mandatory and its absence will not result in a disqualification.
In your portfolio, briefly explain your product range, what products you have and whether your products are, for example, fan art from specific series or completely original. Include 10-15 pictures of your products and/or art. If applying as a group, provide one shared portfolio. Link your portfolio to your application in PDF-format or equivalent. We also accept curated portfolio websites.
In your portfolio, show us why you and your products are suitable for Ropecon! In the Ropecon Artisan and Artist alley juries, suitability for Ropecon, uniqueness and a clear artistic expression are the most important evaluation criteria.

What does “own art” mean for Ropecon’s Artisan Tables and Artist alley?
Own art and crafts means either artworks and crafts made entirely from scratch as well as objects assembled from recycled and finished parts where creativity and thought have been used to express one’s own vision and artistic creation. Products made from your own artwork also count as your own art.
Own works can include, but are not limited to, for example:
- Self-made painting on canvas
- Ceramic sculpture
- Hand-woven woollen socks
- Necklace with a selection of ready-made beads, arranged for a thoughtful and aesthetically unique finish
- Collage piece using clippings and words from magazines and books
- Epoxy piece made with store-bought moulds, with carefully designed colours and presentation, and an artfully moulded finish
- Accessory created from recycled clothes
- Piece of music composed and played by the artist
- Printed products made from digital paintings, such as postcards or key rings
- Self-published volume of a short story written by the author or printed by the publisher
- Print of an art photograph taken and edited by the seller
Examples of pieces not suitable for Artist alley and Artisan tables
- Jewellery piece where only the hook is attached to the finished bead or pendant. The end result is not deliberate or unique.
- Press-on nails with pre-made stickers. The end result is not unique, and a significant part of it is not homemade.
- Drawing, cross-stitch, sketch or similar work traced directly from a media screenshot or other official material. This is direct copying and does not show creativity. There is no prohibition on fan art in any way, only direct copying without any creative input of your own.
- A commissioned fabric mark, drawing, wood engraving, etc. of a brand or series logo. This is a pirated product, the sale of which is illegal.
- material created using generative AI. We do not accept the sale of AI works at Ropecon.
